Wilson College has always been one of the few colleges that has encouraged its students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Students belong to various cultural backgrounds and possess various talents and qualities, which helps in promoting the college as one of the top educational institutions in Mumbai.
For the holistic growth of the students the college has set up various clubs and departments, which are always buzzing with events.
SPORTS DAY
Wilson College’s Sports Day was recently held on the 19th and 20th of November at the Wilson Gymkhana, Marine Drive. Students of the college participated in large numbers to showcase their sporty side. Wilson College is renowned for producing several athletes over the years. Some of the Sport Events are discuss throw, short put, relay race, etc. Soniya Koshy (BMM department) was awarded the Sportsperson of the year who bagged 7 medals in various sports events. Most of the college staffs and students were present to cheer and motivate the participants.
FESTIVALS
Some of the most popular festivals which takes place every year are Ole (Wilson college Intra-college festival), Polaris (Inter-college BMM festival), Adorea (Inter college BMS festival) and BioMosaic etc.
SAREE AND TIE DAY
This is one of the few traditions of Wilson College that is practiced religiously every year. Girls come draped in beautiful sarees while the boys look gentlemanly with classy ties. This day is usually celebrated in the mid-week of December in the college campus. It is one of the most awaited days in college.
Let us now see what the ‘Wilsonians ‘ have to say about the various events. Nadiya Sehgal of SYBMM says ‘ If there’s something unique about this college, it’s the culture we represent. Diversity flows in our college’. Anushka Aranha from SYBMS says ‘ I don’t know about our college promoting culture, but now all I am waiting for is the Saree Tie Day’.
